JAMMU, JANUARY 21: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo held a meeting with officials from Divisional and District administrations, health experts, and police to review the situation regarding mysterious deaths in Badhal village, Rajouri. The meeting focused on identifying the causes and implementing effective measures to prevent more casualties.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Health and Medical Education Department, ADGP Jammu, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, SP Rajouri, Principals of GMC Jammu and Rajouri, Director Health Services Jammu, and experts from national health institutions.
The Chief Secretary emphasized the need for strict containment measures in collaboration with the Divisional Administration. He directed the Health and Police Departments to develop a comprehensive SOP for monitoring the affected village. Adequate manpower should be deployed to enforce the guidelines.
Mr. Dulloo stressed that only tested food and non-edible items should be provided to quarantined individuals. He urged health and police teams to continue investigations until the actual causes of the deaths are identified. He also instructed officials to analyze reports from national diagnostic institutions and ensure all necessary steps are taken to safeguard lives.
The progress of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Police Department and the work of the ministerial team from the Ministry of Home Affairs were reviewed during the meeting. Experts were consulted on preventive measures to avoid further incidents.
Secretary of Health and Medical Education Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah stated that families from the affected area have been isolated, and their food and water are being tested before consumption. Health teams are stationed to monitor symptoms among the residents, and local health centers are prepared to handle any emergencies.
The authorities have ensured that families remain under strict observation and are not allowed to exchange food or eatables. These steps aim to prevent further risks while investigations continue into the mysterious deaths.
