
Anantnag, Apr 8 (BANN): The death toll from the recent road accident in Bijbehara has increased to two after a young cricketer, who was critically injured in the mishap, passed away during treatment late last night.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday evening near the Fruit Mandi area in Jablipora, located in South Kashmir’s Bijbehara area of Anantnag district.
According to officials, Jasif Hassan, son of Gh Hassan Dar and a resident of Sangam, sustained severe injuries in a collision involving a truck and a private car.
Jasif, known for his passion for cricket, was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag in a critical state but could not be saved despite the doctors’ best efforts.
Earlier, another individual, Irfan Ahmad from Mirbazar, had died on the spot following the accident. Two other injured persons, identified as Nadeem Ahmad Dar from Sethar and Khursheed Ahmad from Khonmoh, are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The tragic incident has spread sorrow across the region, especially among the local cricket community who are mourning the loss of the promising player.
