
August 6 (BANN): Shopian Police have registered two separate FIRs against organisers of wedding functions for allegedly violating the District Magistrate’s prohibitory orders by bursting firecrackers during marriage celebrations.
Police have reiterated that the ban remains in force and warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the restrictions.
According to official information, two cases have been registered following incidents in which firecrackers were reportedly used during wedding ceremonies despite the existing ban imposed by the District Magistrate, Shopian.Officials stated that, despite repeated public advisories and clear prohibitory orders banning the use of firecrackers, the restrictions were ignored during the celebrations.
Consequently, FIR Nos. 148/2026 and 151/2026 have been registered at Police Station Shopian, and investigations into both cases are underway.Shopian Police emphasized that the prohibitory orders continue to remain effective and will be implemented without exception. Authorities warned that any individual found violating the directives will face legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
The police also appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration by strictly following the restrictions and ensuring that all social and public events are conducted in compliance with the law.
