SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 30 (BANN): The government led by Omar Abdullah has taken a significant step to tackle unemployment among educated youth in Jammu and Kashmir, approving the advertisement of 575 vacant 10+2 Lecturer posts under the direct recruitment quota.
This initiative, spearheaded by Sakeena Masood, the Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, opens positions across 24 different streams in the School Education Department.
These long-vacant posts have been referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) to expedite the recruitment process, aiming to promptly address the need for qualified teaching staff in higher secondary institutions.
Commenting on this decision, Minister Sakeena Masood stated that the government is committed to fulfilling its promises, especially to the educated youth. “Within just fifteen days of forming our government, we have made this decision to address long-standing demands,” she said, emphasizing that recruitment will start soon and will be completed on a fast-track basis.
Additionally, the Minister noted that other departments are consolidating their lists of vacant gazetted and non-gazetted positions, which will also be forwarded for recruitment. Further, measures are being taken to ensure timely promotions and career progression for educational staff, with directions issued for prompt Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) for posts such as Principals, in-charge Lecturers, Teachers, and Masters.__BANN
