Srinagar, Oct 29 : A student was injured in a violent altercation near Shri Pratap (SP) College in Srinagar on Tuesday, with police identifying a “love triangle” as the underlying motive for the attack.
According to officials, the incident occurred when a youth, identified as Momin Riyaz, son of Riyaz Ahmad Dar from Anantnag, was attacked with a sharp weapon. He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
A police spokesperson stated that at approximately 1:00 PM, they received credible information about a stabbing incident at the SP College grounds, prompting immediate action. Upon arrival at SMHS Hospital, they learned that the victim had reported being stabbed by his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, Arslan Aijaz, son of Aijaz Ahmad Bhat from Barbarshah, who works as a Swiggy delivery boy. The motive was described as stemming from an estranged relationship.
The victim sustained stab wounds to his left abdomen and head but is currently reported to be in stable condition. Police have registered a case under FIR number 62/2024 at Kothibagh Police Station and are continuing their investigation.
The accused, Arslan, has been apprehended, and authorities are working to gather further details surrounding the incident.
