
Anantnag, April 20:The J&K Teachers Forum, District Anantnag, today organized a one-day conference on the theme “Drug Abuse & the Role of Teachers” at Town Hall Achabal. The event drew attention to the rising menace of drug addiction and emphasized the pivotal role educators can play in shaping a drug-free society.Hon’ble MLA Shangus and Anantnag East, Mr. Riyas Khan, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and lauded the efforts of the teaching community in addressing this critical issue.
In his address, he called for a united front against drug abuse and stressed the need for awareness campaigns at grassroots levels.The conference was presided over by Mr. Mohd Shafi Rather, Chairman of J&K Teachers Forum, who underscored the responsibility of teachers in guiding the youth towards a healthy and productive life.
Mr. Javaid Ahmad Bhat, Provincial President of the Forum, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the educational and social dimensions of the drug problem.Other notable speakers included Chief Education Officer Anantnag, District President of J&K Teachers Forum Anantnag Mr. Basheer Ahmad Shah, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Achabal, along with several principals, ZEOs, and members of the civil society. The speakers shared their insights and suggested collaborative strategies to combat substance abuse, particularly through educational institutions.
