New Delhi, January 23: The Delhi High Court has asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to respond to a bail plea filed by Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) President and Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid.AIP’s Chief Spokesperson, Inam Un Nabi, shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the NIA regarding a bail plea submitted by AIP President and MP Baramulla Engineer Rashid. The plea requests the High Court to direct the trial court judge to quickly decide on his pending bail application. Alternatively, it asks the High Court to directly rule on the bail matter. The next hearing is scheduled for January 30, 2025.”Engineer Rashid has been in jail for a long time, and this plea is part of his efforts to secure his release. The AIP has repeatedly stated that the charges against him are politically motivated and aimed at suppressing his voice advocating for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The party is hopeful that the court will deliver a just and timely decision on the case. The next hearing is set for January 30, 2025.
