
SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 02 (BANN) : The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today inaugurated a semi hi-tech polyhouse at Beigpora Pulwama under Capex budget 2023-24.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture highlighted the importance of hi-tech polyhouse technologies. He said the semi hi-tech polyhouses provided to the farmers by the department are becoming success stories. This technology has changed the overall agriculture scenario, he added.
The Director said that the department has established hi-tech polyhouses in all the districts of Kashmir division.
He said that more and more farmers are taking up polyhouse technology in vegetable cultivation on commercial lines and this trend is indeed encouraging. He said the most important characteristic of polyhouse technology enabling round the year vegetable production is making it popular among the farming community of the division.
Chowdhury said under HADP special attention has been focused to boost polyhouse technology.
He also underscored the importance of integrated farming and asked the farmers to diversify their agriculture operations.
The Director asked the farmers that the department would provide all the technical assistance to them in comprehensively performing their agriculture activities.
Director Agriculture also visited Tahab Pulwama and its adjacent areas and took stock of the agriculture scenario in the area.
District Agriculture Officer Pulwama, Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah and some other senior officers were present on the occasion.
