
Srinagar, April 09 (BANN):In a bid to enhance the tourist experience at Gulmarg, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, chaired a high-level meeting with concerned officers to streamline and upgrade facilities at the world-famous destination.The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Director Tourism Kashmir, Director ULB Kashmir, MD Cable Car Corporation, CEO Gulmarg Development Authority, RTO Kashmir, SSP Traffic, and other relevant officials.
The focus was on improving infrastructure and services to ensure hassle-free tourism in Gulmarg.One of the key decisions taken during the meeting was to increase the availability of online Gondola ride tickets from 3,400 to 5,000.
The Div Com also directed the implementation of a ‘tatkal’ booking system for a specific time slot one day in advance to better manage crowds and improve the efficiency of Gondola operations.Emphasizing the need for a clean and organized environment, he instructed concerned departments to maintain cleanliness in the Gulmarg bowl.
Special focus was laid on waste collection from Apharwat and Kongdoori, along with the removal of legacy waste to preserve the ecological beauty of the area.To further enhance the tourist experience, the Div Com stressed on ensuring pothole-free roads, proper regulation of traffic flow, efficient management of parking spaces, and monitoring of local service providers. He also directed strict enforcement of the polythene ban in Gulmarg.
Vijay Kumar Bidhuri urged all departments to work in close coordination to offer tourists a smooth and memorable visit. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to transforming Gulmarg into a model tourist destination with world-class amenities.
