
Srinagar, April 19: Several higher areas of Kashmir witnessed fresh snowfall on Saturday, while the plains received intermittent rainfall, causing a drop in temperatures across the region.
Officials reported moderate snowfall in parts of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, especially in Gurez and Tulail areas. Due to the weather conditions, key roads have been shut and school classes have been suspended.The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Gurez announced that classes up to 8th standard in Tulail and up to 5th standard in Gurez Tehsil will remain suspended as a safety measure amid ongoing snowfall.
The Gurez-Bandipora road has also been closed for vehicles following the snow, cutting off the border area from the rest of the Valley.In south Kashmir, authorities have closed Sinthan Top—a crucial route connecting Anantnag with Kishtwar via NH-244—due to overnight snowfall. The route will remain shut for traffic today and tomorrow.
