Pulwama, August 25, 2024 (BANN): In a significant political development, Ghulam Nabi Niloora has resigned from the National Conference (NC) and is expected to contest the upcoming elections as a candidate for the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) from the Rajpora constituency.
Ghulam Nabi Niloora comes from a politically influential family in the region. His father, Ghulam Qadir Niloora, served as an MLA twice, and his brother, Advocate Nazir Niloora, also represented the constituency as an MLA once. Tragically, both his father and brother were martyred by unknown assailants, which had a profound impact on the family and the region.
After these tragic events, Ghulam Nabi Niloora, who was working as an engineer until 2008, decided to step into the political arena to continue his family’s legacy. He resigned from his engineering position and joined the National Conference, where he quickly rose through the ranks. By 2014, he had become the District President for Pulwama within the NC.
His political journey continued with dedication, and from 2019 until his resignation on August 25, 2024, he was a member of the NC Provincial Committee. However, in a surprising move, he decided to step down from his long-held position in the NC and join DPAP.
Ghulam Nabi Niloora has now secured a ticket from the DPAP to contest the Rajpora constituency in the upcoming elections. His decision to switch parties and contest from Rajpora as a DPAP candidate marks a new chapter in his political career, which is likely to draw significant attention from both political observers and the electorate.
This move could have a substantial impact on the political dynamics in the region, as Ghulam Nabi Niloora is expected to leverage his extensive experience, family legacy, and influence in the upcoming polls.(BANN)
