Gunfight Erupts in Anantnag

Annantnag, Aug 10 :- An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Ahlan area of Gadool in Kokernag of area South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

An official told news agency that a joint team of police, Army, and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched a search operation in the area.

They said that as the joint forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

He said that more forces have been rushed to the spot and operation is going on in the area.

Reports suggest that militants who were active in Doda since last few months have entered Anantnag district.
