DC Srinagar Praises Red Cross Team and Volunteers for Their Vital Role in Assisting the Needy During Emergencies

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 05 (BANN): Marking International Volunteers Day 2024, the District Red Cross Committee (DRC) organized a grand event today at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Nawakadal, Srinagar.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, who also serves as the Chairman of the District Red Cross Committee, presided over the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, Dr. Bhat acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Red Cross Society in extending help, care, and life-saving services during disasters.
He commended the tireless efforts, compassion, and courage of the DRC team and volunteers who work relentlessly to assist those in need during crises and calamities. Dr. Bhat highlighted that natural disasters spare no one, but the unwavering commitment of Red Cross volunteers has been instrumental in saving lives and rehabilitating affected individuals.
He also spoke about the history and significance of the Red Cross Society, paying tribute to international volunteers for their contributions to societal welfare. The DC emphasized the long-standing legacy of the Red Cross, which has benefitted countless individuals across the globe. The event was attended by prominent officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Syed Ahmad Kataria, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Deputy Chief Education Officer Srinagar, the Principal of GGHSS Nawakadal, staff members, and others.
