Srinagar, March 06 (BANN) : Jumma (Friday) holds a special place in Islam, regarded as the most sacred and blessed day of the week. It is often called “Sayyidul Ayyam” (the master of days) and is a day of spiritual renewal, mercy, and blessings. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of Jumma, making it a day filled with divine rewards for those who observe it with sincerity and devotion.
Virtues of Jumma in Islam
- The Best Day of the Week
According to a Hadith, the Prophet (PBUH) said:
“The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday. On it, Adam was created, on it, he was admitted to Paradise, and on it, he was expelled from it.” (Sahih Muslim) - Special Hour of Acceptance of Dua
There is an hour on Friday in which Allah accepts prayers. It is believed that sincere supplications made during this time are answered. Scholars suggest that this special moment is either between Asr and Maghrib or during the Khutbah (sermon) before Jumma prayer. - Forgiveness of Sins
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
“Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself, applies perfume, goes early to the mosque, listens attentively to the Khutbah, and does not engage in idle talk, his sins between the two Fridays will be forgiven.” (Sahih Bukhari) - Reward for Reciting Surah Al-Kahf
Reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Friday brings light (Noor) in life and serves as protection from trials. The Prophet (PBUH) said:
“Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next.” (Al-Hakim)
