Locals Remove Kaaba-Like Structure in North Kashmir, Mentally Ill Man Taken Into Custody

Baramulla, Feb 6 : Residents of Waripora village in Kunzar, Baramulla district, have dismantled a structure resembling the Kaaba, which was constructed by a mentally ill man.

The individual had allegedly been claiming to be Sufi saint Sheikh Nooruddin Wali and invited people to visit the site as an alternative for those unable to undertake Umrah.

Following objections from religious scholars, including Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, who demanded his immediate arrest, authorities detained the man. Officials stated that he will undergo a mental health evaluation before any legal action is taken. –KNT
