
Sonamarg Now Accessible Year-Round; Travel Time Cut to 25 Minutes
Ganderbal, Jan 13 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the Z-Morh Tunnel in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, a key development aimed at enhancing connectivity and tourism in the region.
The 6.4 km-long tunnel significantly reduces the travel time between Gagangeer and Sonamarg to 20-25 minutes. The tunnel offers all-weather connectivity, ensuring uninterrupted access to Sonamarg throughout the year and improving the route to the under-construction Zojila tunnel.
This milestone is expected to boost tourism, both domestic and international, in Sonamarg, contributing to the overall socio-economic growth of the Kashmir Valley.
The inauguration event saw the presence of several notable figures, including Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Road Transport .
