
DDC Chairperson Hoists National Flag at DPL Pulwama, Honors Freedom Fighters
PULWAMA, AUGUST 15: The 78th Independence Day was marked with immense zeal and excitement throughout Pulwama district. The main event took place at the District Police Lines, where the DDC Chairperson, Syed Abdul Bari Indrabi, hoisted the National Flag and reviewed the march-past.
The event saw the presence of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom; SSP Pulwama, P D Nitya; DDC Members, and other senior officials from both the civil and police administration.
The march-past included contingents from JKP, JKAP, CRPF 182/183, Home Guards, Fire & Emergency Services, NCC Cadets, and students from various schools, along with participants from the Youth Services.
In his speech, the DDC Chairperson congratulated the participants and highlighted the importance of Independence Day, paying homage to the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for India’s independence. He also spoke about various development projects in Pulwama, including the construction of Kashmir’s first AIIMS at Awantipora and a Migrant Colony for Kashmiri Pandits, both slated for completion by 2025.
The celebrations concluded with cultural performances by artists from the Information Department, Education Department, and the Department of Youth Services and Sports. The audience was captivated by patriotic songs and dance performances, followed by the distribution of prizes to the best contingents, cultural performers, social activists, and other participants.
Flag hoisting ceremonies were also held at various locations across the district, including Sub-Divisional headquarters, Tehsil/Block Halqas, Panchayat Ghars, District Administration offices, colleges, and schools.(BANN)
