
Pulwama, Aug 11 (BANN): In a determined effort to curb illegal mineral mining, Pulwama Police have arrested seven individuals involved in unauthorized mineral extraction and transportation in the village of Kariamabad.
Authorities have also confiscated several vehicles, including four tippers, a tractor, and two JCB machines.
According to an official statement, those arrested include Bilal Ahmad Ganaie, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, Irfan Mushtaq, Tanveer Ahmad Mir, and Mohd Maqbool Mir, all from Kariamabad, Pulwama. Additionally, Nawaz Ahmad Wagay from Baderhama, Shopian, and Aadil Ali Khan from Kakapora were also detained.
An FIR No. 164/2024 has been filed at the Pulwama Police Station under relevant legal sections, and further investigations are ongoing.
The Pulwama Police have reiterated their commitment to strictly enforcing laws against illegal mining activities and have encouraged the public to report any suspicious mining activities in their vicinity, the statement concluded. —(BANN)
