
Shopian, February 04: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zainapora, Jahanger Ahmad, conducted an unannounced inspection of the Horticulture Fruit Plant Nursery to review ongoing activities.
During the visit, officials briefed the SDM on the rootstock propagation of MM106, MM111, and M9 apple varieties. The nursery, spanning 97 kanals, is well-known for its Chandler walnut variety and various cherry types, including Stella, Kordia, Regina, Sweetheart, and Bing, along with the Colt rootstock of cherry.
In addition to these, the nursery cultivates high-density apple and cherry, as well as apricot, plum, walnut seedlings, almond, and peach. The SDM instructed the concerned authorities to enhance the nursery’s productivity to generate substantial revenue for the exchequer and benefit local orchardists.
