Srinagar, July 24 (KS) : A Terrorist has been killed in an ongoing encounter between Terrorists and security forces in Kowut area of North Kashmir Kupwara district.A top police officer told Srinagar based news agency Kashmir scroll that a joint team of Police and Army launched a cordon and search operation in Lolab after receiving specific input about the presence of Terrorists in the area.As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding Terrorists fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, the officer said. He said that during exchange of fire one terrorist has been killed while operation is on in the area.”Based on specific input regarding presence of terrorists in general area Kowut, Kupwara, a Joint Search Operation was launched by #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice on days leading upto 23 July 24.” Army said in a post on ‘X’.”On 24 July, suspicious movement was observed and challenged by vigilant troops, in response to which terrorists opened indiscriminate fire.
