
Srinagar, Aug 20 (BANN): Two consecutive earthquakes, with magnitudes of 4.9 and 4.8 respectively, hit Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir this morning, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
NCS, in a post on X mentioned that the first earthquake, with a magnitude of 4.9, was recorded in Baramulla at approximately 06:45 IST. The quake occurred at a shallow depth of 5 km, with coordinates of 34.17°N latitude and 74.15°E longitude.
The second tremor, registering a magnitude of 4.8, struck the area at around 06:52 IST. This earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometers, with its epicenter located at 34.20°N latitude and 74.31°E longitude.
As of now, there have been no reports of casualties or damage—(BANN).
