
Baramulla AC Leads with 25 Candidates, Akhnoor AC Sees Close Race with Just 3 Contenders
ECI Sets Up 5,060 Polling Stations with Webcasting to Ensure Transparency ,Over 20,000 Polling Staff Deployed

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 30 (BANN): The final phase of the General Elections for the Legislative Assembly, scheduled for October 1st, will see 39.18 lakh voters deciding the fate of 415 candidates.
This phase will cover 40 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) across seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipora in the Kashmir Division, and Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, and Samba in the Jammu Division.
Baramulla in North Kashmir has the highest number of candidates at 25, while Akhnoor in Jammu district has just 3 candidates.
In Kashmir Division, the constituencies include Karnah, Trehgam, Kupwara, Lolab, Handwara, Langate, Sopore, Rafiabad, Uri, Baramulla, Gulmarg, Wagoora-Kreeri, Pattan, Sonawari, Bandipora, and Gurez (ST). In Jammu Division, the constituencies include Udhampur West, Udhampur East, Chenani, Ramnagar (SC), Bani, Billawar, Basohli, Jasrota, Kathua (SC), Hiranagar, Ramgarh (SC), Samba, Vijaypur, Bishnah (SC), Suchetgarh (SC), R.S. Pura–Jammu South, Bahu, Jammu East, Nagrota, Jammu West, Jammu North, Marh (SC), Akhnoor (SC), and Chhamb.
According to updated electoral rolls, there are 39,18,220 eligible voters, including 20,09,033 male voters, 19,09,130 female voters, and 57 third-gender voters. Additionally, 1.94 lakh young voters aged 18-19 will participate, alongside 35,860 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and 32,953 elderly voters over 85 years of age.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has set up 5,060 polling stations, including 974 in urban areas and 4,086 in rural regions. All polling stations will feature webcasting to ensure a transparent voting process. Special polling stations have been set up, including 50 Pink Polling Stations managed by women, 43 run by specially-abled staff, and 40 managed by youth. The 240 special polling stations include 45 green stations to raise environmental awareness, 29 near the LOC/IB for residents, and 33 unique polling stations.
For migrant voters from the Kashmir Division, 24 special polling stations will be set up, with 19 in Jammu, 4 in Delhi, and 1 in Udhampur. More than 20,000 polling staff will be on duty across all constituencies.
In this phase, Jammu district has 109 candidates, Baramulla 101, Kupwara 59, Bandipora 42, Udhampur 37, Kathua 35, and Samba 32.
Voting will take place from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on October 1st.__BANN
