SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 17: In a continued and focused effort to ensure maximum voter turnout on polling day, a series of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiatives have been conducted throughout the Shopian district. The District Election Officer (DEO), Returning Officers (ROs), Nodal Officers for SVEEP, and Media have intensified their voter awareness campaigns in the lead-up to the September 18 elections.
These efforts included door-to-door campaigns, street plays, cycle, bike, horse, and umbrella rallies, public announcements, distribution of informational pamphlets, seminars, short reels, and posters, along with painting competitions. Booth Awareness Groups (BAGs) actively engaged with residents by going door-to-door, explaining the voter registration process, highlighting the importance of voter ID cards, and emphasizing the value of each vote.
Special emphasis was placed on encouraging elderly women, young voters, and marginalized communities to participate in the elections. SVEEP teams extended their efforts to high-altitude and remote areas, while also focusing on urban zones to address urban voter apathy.
The district administration has commended the efforts of all stakeholders involved in these awareness initiatives and remains hopeful that these activities will result in a higher voter turnout on polling day.(BANN)
