
Srinagar , Aug 08 (BANN) : The Election Commission of India (ECI) arrived in Srinagar on Thursday to assess the readiness for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Representatives from various political parties also gathered at the Sher-I-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) to meet with the ECI team.
According to officials, the full commission, including Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and two other election commissioners, landed at Srinagar airport this morning. They immediately proceeded to the SKICC to engage with various stakeholders, including representatives from political parties.
Political party representatives, including those from the National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and others, arrived at the SKICC to discuss election preparations with the ECI team.
Senior BJP leader Ranbir Singh Pathania, speaking to the media at the SKICC, expressed optimism about high voter turnout in the assembly elections. “We aim for free and fair elections with significant voter participation to elect a government that will work for the betterment of Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated.(BANN)
