
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended three individuals, including a Patwari from Halqa Soal, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, along with a property dealer and a middleman, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a complainant.
According to a statement from the CBI, a case was filed against a property dealer from Village Jib, Tehsil & District Udhampur, based on allegations that the dealer was demanding a bribe of Rs 40,000 on behalf of a Patwari for issuing a Fard (revenue extract) of a property being purchased by the complainant’s father.
The CBI set up a trap, resulting in the arrest of the property dealer, the middleman, and the Patwari in a sequential operation. The property dealer was first caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant. Subsequently, the middleman was apprehended while receiving the bribe from the property dealer, and finally, the Patwari was caught while accepting the bribe from the middleman.Searches were conducted at the residences of the accused, and all three individuals are set to be presented before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (CBI Cases), Jammu, today. The investigation is ongoing.
