JAMMU, AUGUST 21 BANN: To counter misinformation and safeguard the electoral integrity in the upcoming Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Command-and-Control Centres have been launched at the Chief Electoral Officer’s offices in both Jammu and Srinagar. Additionally, 24/7 operational control rooms have been activated in all 20 District Commissioner offices across the region.
Outfitted with advanced technology, these Command-and-Control Centres are designed to operate continuously, monitoring election-related activities to ensure immediate and appropriate actions, especially in cases of suspected fake news, according to a statement from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office in J&K.
These Centres aim to strengthen the electoral process in Jammu and Kashmir, offering a collaborative environment to assess situations across all 90 constituencies in the Union Territory.
“Beyond electronic channels, the Command-and-Control Centres are also closely monitoring social media platforms and media outlets, particularly focusing on those who might attempt to create narratives that could harm societal peace or violate the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) established by the Election Commission of India,” the statement emphasized.
It’s important to note that the Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir has urged all citizens and political parties to follow the Election Commission of India’s guidelines to preserve the democratic process’s sanctity in J&K.
The public is also encouraged to use the C-Vigil app to report any MCC violations. The CEO assured that all complaints would be addressed within the Election Commission of India’s stipulated 100-minute time frame.(BANN)
