“28 Counting Centres Set Up, Tight Security in Place”
SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 07 (BANN): The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, announced that the vote counting for the 2024 J&K Assembly elections will start at 8 AM on October 8. A total of 28 counting centres have been arranged for the 90 constituencies across 20 districts.
Pole assured that all necessary preparations have been made and emphasized that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are stored securely in strong rooms at the district headquarters. To ensure the smooth and secure process, a three-tier security arrangement has been set up around all counting centres.
Multiple security checkpoints have been established within a 100-meter radius of the centres, and CCTV cameras are installed to closely watch the activities inside the strong rooms. Entry to these areas is strictly limited to authorized personnel.
The vote counting will start with postal ballots, followed by EVM results 30 minutes later. The CEO assured that real-time updates will be shared throughout the process. He also mentioned that the strong rooms will be opened in the presence of candidates, their representatives, and officials, and the entire process will be recorded.
To avoid overcrowding, the CEO advised the public to track results online via the Election Commission’s website and app. Special media centres have also been set up for journalists to access the latest updates.__BANN
