
PULWAMA, DECEMBER 02 (BANN) : Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, presided over a meeting under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) framework to evaluate and enhance measures aimed at eliminating drug abuse and illegal cultivation in the district.
The meeting addressed critical topics such as eradicating poppy cultivation, enforcing strict actions against drug traffickers, conducting intensified awareness campaigns, and improving treatment and rehabilitation services for individuals affected by drug addiction.
Dr. Qayoom highlighted the importance of collaboration between various departments and active community participation in tackling drug-related issues.
He stressed the need for ongoing awareness initiatives, particularly focusing on vulnerable groups, including the youth. He instructed the concerned officials to develop a comprehensive plan to achieve zero illegal cultivation in the coming year. Additionally, he directed departments to monitor high-risk areas closely. The DC underscored the significance of accessible and efficient treatment facilities for individuals struggling with addiction.
He called for a balanced approach that combines prevention, education, treatment, rehabilitation, and reintegration into society, alongside strict enforcement to deter illegal activities.
The meeting was attended by the SSP Awantipora, ASP Pulwama, ADCs from Pulwama, Tral, and Awantipora, along with representatives from other departments.__BANN
