
PULWAMA, JANUARY 03 (BANN): Javed Ahmad Rana, the Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, led a detailed review meeting on the development status of Pulwama district. He emphasized the importance of involving local MLAs in the planning and execution of government schemes, noting that their extensive reach can help ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are included. He also suggested organizing awareness camps to enroll people at the grassroots level in various schemes.
The Minister stressed the need for maintaining high-quality standards in development projects and ensuring their timely completion. He called for continuous monitoring and regular follow-ups to guarantee the successful implementation of all schemes aimed at public welfare.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to people-centric development under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s leadership, Rana underscored the importance of providing prompt services to the public. He pointed out the district’s significant potential for economic and social transformation and urged the administration to focus on the productive use of the district’s abundant natural resources to reduce unemployment and promote inclusive socio-economic growth.
During the review of the Jal Jeevan Mission, Rana called for coordinated efforts to ensure that every household receives a functional tap water connection. He reiterated the government’s dedication to the holistic development of tribal communities, emphasizing the need to improve basic amenities and socio-economic indicators. He highlighted initiatives such as tribal hostels and Eklavya Residential Schools.
The Minister also discussed plans for better natural resource management, including the establishment of Firewood Depots that could later become Timber Depots, ensuring equitable access and sustainable resource use. He praised Pulwama’s potential for high-density plantations and other environmental preservation programs that engage the community.
Rana outlined plans to enhance medical facilities, increase manpower in health and education sectors, improve infrastructure and rural development, and expand access to scholarships for underprivileged students.
