Army Rescues Passengers Stranded on Karnah Road

Srinagar, Nov 11 (BANN): Mughal Road, linking south Kashmir to Rajouri and Poonch districts in Jammu’s Pir Panjal region, and the Bandipora-Gurez route were closed to traffic Monday evening after fresh snowfall hit the higher elevations, officials reported.
An official source informed BANN that the Peer Ki Gali area, which received 2 inches of snowfall by evening, has also been closed.
According to the official, traffic will remain halted on Mughal and Bandipora-Gurez roads until the weather improves and the roads are deemed safe for travel.
He added that light to moderate snowfall is occurring in many high-altitude regions across Jammu and Kashmir.
In the meantime, the Army assisted passengers who were stranded on a State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) bus at Khooni Nallah after snowfall disrupted travel.
The bus, which was on its way from Karnah to Srinagar, was forced to halt, leaving passengers, including children and elderly, stranded in the cold.
After receiving an emergency call, army personnel were dispatched to aid the passengers, evacuating them to the Sadhna Top shelter. There, they were provided warmth with traditional heating equipment, the official added—(BANN)
