
Srinagar, 20_oct_2024: In a tragic incident, three non-local laborers were killed in a militant attack on Sunday in Gagangir, Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Shri Vidhi Kumar Birdi, confirmed the news, stating that the laborers were working for a private company involved in tunnel construction in the Gund area when the attack took place.
According to the IGP, the militants targeted the workers’ camp, firing upon them in a densely forested area. The injured laborers were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, all three succumbed to their injuries, marking a grim outcome to the attack.
Security forces were quick to respond to the incident, reaching the site soon after the attack. The area was cordoned off, and a search operation was launched to track down the militants responsible for this heinous act. The IGP assured that all necessary measures are being taken to bring the perpetrators to justice.
This incident has heightened concerns about the safety of non-local workers in the region, especially those involved in key infrastructure projects.
