
JAMMU, OCTOBER 18 (BANN): In preparation for Diwali, District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya has instructed Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to carry out inspections of all firecracker warehouses and submit their findings within three days, warning of strict legal consequences for any violations.
During a meeting focused on Diwali readiness, the DM underscored the importance of adhering to safety regulations. “SDMs must thoroughly check all licensed firecracker storage facilities within their areas and take immediate legal action if any infractions are found. A detailed action report is to be submitted within three days,” Vaishya ordered.
The instructions focused on ensuring that both sellers and warehouse operators strictly follow licensing conditions. SDMs were also directed to inspect firecracker stalls that are temporarily set up around the district to ensure proper safety measures and storage practices are in place.
Other key points discussed during the meeting included fire safety preparedness, with the Fire Services Department instructed to position fire tenders at critical points for rapid emergency response. Traffic management strategies, including potential restrictions during peak Diwali days, were also addressed.
Additionally, the DM directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation to launch a special cleanliness drive to maintain hygiene throughout the festive season.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate Ansuya Jamwal, Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Faisal Qureshi, and SDMs, along with senior officials from various departments.___BANN
