In Srinagar, the mercury peaked at 33.8°C today, marking the second highest temperature ever recorded in September. The all-time record for the month remains 35.0°C, set on September 18, 1934. The same temperature of 33.8°C was also noted on September 1, 1970. The temperature is 6.4°C above the usual average for this time of year.
In Qazigund, the temperature hit 32.8°C, setting a new record for the highest temperature ever recorded in September. This temperature was also reached on September 12, 2019, and September 8, 1988. The current reading is 6.5°C above the typical norm.-(KW)
