
Mirwaiz to Give Sermon at Jamia Masjid, Large Crowd Expected at Hazratbal
Srinagar, Feb 12 : People in Kashmir are getting ready to observe Shab-e-Barat on Thursday night with great religious devotion. Large crowds are expected at important shrines like Dargah Hazratbal and Jamia Masjid Srinagar.
Many worshippers plan to spend the night in prayer, asking for blessings and forgiveness from Allah.
According to information gathered by the news agency , thousands of people are expected to gather at Hazratbal Shrine for special prayers. “The shrine’s management has made the necessary arrangements to handle the large crowd and ensure the smooth running of the religious activities,” said an official from Hazratbal.
Meanwhile, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar announced that the chief cleric of Kashmir, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr. Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, will give a sermon after Maghrib prayers at 7:30 PM. He will talk about the importance and blessings of Shab-e-Barat.
After the sermon, there will be a collective prayer session for forgiveness (Tawba & Istighfar), followed by Isha prayers at 9:00 PM. “Mirwaiz’s visit to Jamia Masjid will take place as permitted by the authorities,” said the Auqaf.
People in Kashmir are excited about the occasion, with many planning to spend the night in prayer, seeking mercy from Allah.
Muhammad Yaseen, a resident of Srinagar, said Shab-e-Barat is a night of forgiveness, and they pray deeply, asking for Allah’s blessings for themselves and their loved ones.
Another local, Shahzan, said, “This is a time of spiritual reflection for us. The atmosphere at Hazratbal, Jamia Masjid, and other places in the valley is always full of devotion. I am planning to pray either at Jamia or Hazratbal Srinagar.”
Shab-e-Barat is observed on the 14th of Sha’ban and is highly significant in Islam as it is believed to be the night when destinies are written, and Allah’s mercy is given to those who sincerely seek forgiveness.
Authorities have asked people to maintain discipline during the gatherings. “All necessary arrangements, including security and sanitation, have been made at the major religious sites,” an official said—(KNO)
